Our department has recovered in the post-pandemic period and has achieved the majority of its goals for the year 2022. The target was to participate in 4 national and international conferences and symposia, and this goal has been accomplished. Our department is also quite successful in terms of publishing national and international articles, with the number and quality of publications increasing rapidly when compared to similar departments within the university. However, we were unable to meet the goal of publishing in SSCI and Scopus indexed journals. Nevertheless, the target of 3 SSCI indexed publications has been achieved with one publication. To increase this number, we need to initiate support for participation in international symposia and increase the support for participation in national symposia.
One of our department's goals was to undertake domestic and internationally funded projects, which we could not achieve in 2022. The lack of sufficient academic staff and the high workload, leading to a lack of time for project writing, played a significant role in this. In addition, a course on entrepreneurship has been introduced to provide the necessary knowledge and skills for applying for projects supported by KOSGEB (Small and Medium Industry Development Organization), not only in this area but also general entrepreneurship education is provided. As a result of it being a course, specific KOSGEB training has not been received.
As part of our goal to engage in quality education and teaching activities, the number of Erasmus connections has increased, although none of our students have benefited from these opportunities due to our inability to sufficiently improve our students' language proficiency. Furthermore, the targeted 4 practical courses have been successfully achieved. We successfully reached the goal of 5 current events in socio-political and urban topics.
Both external and internal stakeholder meetings have been held. In 2021, social responsibility projects were written (3 in total), and aside from the project carried out in the previous year, none have been implemented yet. Additionally, a Social Responsibility Projects Course has been added to our curriculum.
Our national and international project goal was not realized due to unsuccessful applications, but our efforts in this regard will continue through student project applications, TÜBİTAK projects for thesis written by our master's students, and other related initiatives.
