Academic Performance Evaluation for the Year 2021

Our department has achieved the majority of its goals for the year 2021. Although the target was to participate in 2 national and international conferences and symposia, we managed to attend 8 events. Our department is also quite successful in terms of publishing national and international articles, with the number and quality of publications increasing rapidly when compared to similar departments within the university. However, we were unable to meet the goal of publishing in SSCI and Scopus-indexed journals. Nevertheless, our department had an article published in an international book by Emerald. To increase this number, we need to initiate support for participation in international symposia and increase support for participation in national symposia.

One of our department's goals was to undertake domestic and internationally funded-projects, which we could not achieve in 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic played a significant role in this. In addition, a course on entrepreneurship has been introduced to provide the necessary knowledge and skills for applying for projects supported by KOSGEB (Small and Medium Industry Development Organization), and not only in this area but also in general entrepreneurship education is provided. As a result of it being a course, specific KOSGEB training has not been taken.

As part of our goal to engage in quality education and teaching activities, we established Erasmus connections; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic conditions and the inability to sufficiently increase our students' language proficiency, none of our students have benefited from these opportunities. Furthermore, the targeted 4 practical courses were not achieved, partly due to the absence of our own PC laboratory and the transition to online education due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We successfully reached the goal of 5 current events in socio-political and urban topics.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic conditions, stakeholder meetings could not be held. Social responsibility projects have been written (3 in total) but have not been implemented yet, with only one being executed because it was related to the COVID-19 period.

Applications were not successful in reaching their goals, but our efforts in this regard will continue through student project applications, TÜBİTAK projects for thesis written by our master's students, and other related initiatives.
